Kalank Bonus Track

Dil mein jo dilbar ka darbaar hai
Sajde mein baithe hain jitni dafa
Woh meri mannat mein har baar hai
.......
Jo apna hai saara sajaniya pe waara
Na thame re kisi aur ka aanchal piya
.......
Kalank nahi ishq hai kaajal piya.

Kalank - Bonus Track

Yeh gaana zara jaake sun na, jo koi bhi yaha pad raha hai na, sun na bas.
This song has a soul.

Everytime I listen to the song, I wonder - log aise lyrics sochte bhi kaise hai?
How are the writers able to express a certain emotion so beautifully in words that can be sung. None of my poems can be sung - only recited.

The line, Kalank nahi ishq hai kaajal piya, we hide it from the world for the fear of backlash but I think that's something we fail at, tell the world what we are capable of and like how a woman inspite of her beautiful eyes, still applies her kaajal, everyday just to look that one bit more beautiful - love is just that - it's makes the two of us look that bit more adorable.
Ask, why has the kaajal vanished, love never did, then why has the kaajal vanished?

Listen to the song and the original Kalank song too. It's beautiful, the lyrics.
-----
'Ik tarfa shayad ho dil ka bharam
Do tarfa hai toh ye sanjog hai'
------
Mohtaj manzil ka tu nahin hai
Yeh ek tarfa mera safar
(Ae dil hai mushkil)

Sochna zaroor!

You know what song I'll be reviewing next :)

Bediyan/Decisions

Hai mere paanv hi
Khud meri bediyaan
Us se mujhe tu chooda
......
Dil ke viraane mein
Mere phasane mein
Tu hi toh har dum raha.

-Tera Mera Rishta.

I have been talking and talking a lot, to a lot of people, this quarantine and surprisingly each and everyone of us has gone through a phase of self-realization and have re-evaluated life choices at multiple levels. Some are questioning where their career is headed and some are questioning where their life?
How much have we lost ourselves in the process, which is an illusion to stay happy and what all have we buried for something that we assumed would give us peace in the long run, but now that life has slowed down and has forced us to think, to consider and to ruminate, the shroud is slowly disappearing.

We make choices and sometimes choices are just an impediment in our endeavour to a life we imagined or a life pictured by us and sometimes you make choices because you need to go through the whole of your inner turmoil and uncertainty to be able to finally come out of it with a certain clarity. For some, like me it took close to two years to reach a conclusion of what I wanted with life and I am pretty clear with the outcome.

But on the other hand there are a few who struggle to choose with a decision that was taken/given due to circumstances - emotional or practical(very subjective) and when the realisation dawned upon them, their life turned topsy turvy and they are now just a child in a toy store, scared and confused.
But you don't have to be, you are just going to come out of it stronger. But you need to do it alone. Nobody can and should hold your finger and take you to the exit, coz phir se you will just end up following the footsteps of that person who helps you and the(your) entire journey, your entire existence, will be rendered futile.

Now, I leave you with a thought - what do you want to do when you are 60 and are looking back at life?
You want to be as confused as you are today or you want to look back and tell yourself, I respect myself for every action I took.
You are not wrong if you are selfish, you are just looking out for self preservation. Isn't that a basic human instinct?

Zindagi

Taaron Bhari Ek Raat Mein
Tere Khat Padhenge Saath Mein
Kora Jo Panna Reh Gaya
Ek Kaanpte Se Haath Mein
Thodi Shiqaayat Karna Tu
Thodi Shiqayat Main Karun
Naraaz Bas Na Hona Tu,
Zindagi...
- Zindagi Kuch toh Bata.

These lines, can be interpreted in the most beautiful ways. Toota dil ho, ya bichde dost, ya koi extrovert - basically 'longing' ka koi bhi form ho.

Yeh scenes generally movies main hote hai but aise ek movie series hai 'Before Trilogy'; Before Sunrise is the first, it's beautiful, though I don't remeber much but I really want to re-watch it all, may be tonight

But again think about it, on the way to adulting, we end up losing so many friends, people we loved, family members and as years progress the realisation dawns upon us, as one starts getting busier some friends are no more at the same wavelength with you and you realise some have settled in a 'gruh grihasti' and some just fade out.
And we envision a day when we can just sit down with a few and have just one night to discuss a lot that remained unsaid and one kicks himself as to why didn't they, May be the time is now?

Kora kagaz, ek unkahi kahani,
Tum aur main, meri zubaani.

Amazing Lyrics - Part 7

Oye laila laila laila meri jaan
Kya hai tera naam
Dekhun main tujhko ankh moond ke
Chhaila, chhaila karta hai salaam
Kya hai tera naam
Dekhun main tujhko ankh moond ke

AndhaDhun bechara, bechara dil aaj se
AndhaDhun bechara, bechara dil aaj se
Chal Monday raat se

Mere dil ke, dil ke
Dil ke bhi dil mein hai tu
Haan mere dil ke, dil ke
Dil ke bhi dil mein hai tu

---Listen to this song, it's a very happy song.
I thought I always share all beautifully written poetic songs but this song - it's happy and it's fun. This is Amit Trivedi for you, listen to it for all the musical instruments come together in synchrony and makes it such a lively song. It deserves to be shared and I also know for a fact not many have actually listened to it.
Go ahead it, it's perfect and I want 'You' to listen to it 'now' on full volume. Thank me in the comments. I know you'll love it.

Thappad/Ek Tukda Dhoop

Ek dhaage mein hain uljhe yun
Ke bunte bunte khul gaye
Hum the likhe deewar pe
Baarish huyi aur dhul gaye

So I watched Thappad. Now, I knew it so going to make me think and think hard. It did. Have you ever reminisced about all the wrongs you've done and then sat and mulled over how you could fix it but never came around to fix it until it was too late and when you finally did, the film ended?
But sometimes - sometimes, you don't get permission into the next screen - so you are left wondering and then starts a reaction of self thought that either makes you a bitter person or makes you want to be a better person.

The movie here is what I will talk about not in details, yeh hua, woh hua, nahi. Just a few parts. Parts that make you think about who you are as a human?

There is a scene where he(Vikram) is talking to the father and says, 'ho gaya na' and the father responds, 'Zyaada zaroori saawal hai, aisa kyun hua?'
That's the moment I savoured the most. I want to be man like that and to be real honest, I am not, never was - I try to be but I fail. May be I have taken a few things a bit too much for granted and never realised, aisa kyun hua and always reasoned with myself, ab ho gaya na, aage kya?

The next scene is, when she is sitting at her mother-in -law's feet and says, 'uss raat ke baad koi nahi aaya mere se milne......Amu ko bhool jaana chahiye' -
This scene just tore me apart, I was in tears (rivers flowed that night) at this moment.
I remember a moment when my self respect once took a hit. I ended up at a wrong platform (at a certain stage in life) and I was there with hope, hope, for I felt it was the right thing to do and I found out later that it wasn't. The moment your self respect takes a hit, you are bitter and it's not easy to forgive. It's never easy to forgive. When I can't, then I can't expect forgiveness when I am at fault. I too have sinned.

The scene that made me the most sad was when he tells Amu, 'Amu iss baar na, kamaunga main tujhe'
That resonated with me, you sometimes screw up so many relationships - old friends, new friends, important people, so many - that you have to then earn them back, bit by bit from zero. It's not easy. But you do if it matters to you. I tried that, when I ended up at the wrong platform (at a certain point in life referenced earlier), I arrived with a hope, a hope, that I can earn back what was once mine - bit by bit, I didn't expect it was easy, but I did try. I didn't want to give up hope. Like Vikram here does not.

But then at one point, Amu says, I don't love you, when I don't love you I can't live with you. What do you do then?
I'd say, pack your bags and get the fuck out, with grace. Dignity above all. You can't force people to like you, infact you should never do that. I've lost friends - I've tried reconciliation but when they are uninterested or when I don't really care - it needs to be buried, and one that's gracefully done. Then you move on and they do too.

Incase you can't move on and are stuck up, my advice, don't ever tell them coz they don't care and why should they? They don't owe you shit, they did when they did, now it's your problem you live in the past or you are living with a sense of longing. It's your problem, you might as well deal with it.

This particular emotion is beautifully captured in the lines below from the movie itself.

Hijr waali raato ki, (hayee)
Kabro main soo gaye.

Tum humaare jitne the
Sach kaho kya utne the
Jaane do mat kaho kitne the.

-----
Nahi sun na kitne the
Shayad utne nahi the
Jitna hum chahte the
Waise hi rehte hai, jaise the?

(Note: Lot of important points and issues raised by the makers- must watch for men atleast)

I had to add this -
A point where Ratna Shah and Kumud Mishra are having a conversation and he says, 'maine aapko kabhi kisi cheez ke liye mana kiya hai?'
She replies, 'Mana nahi kiya, par poocha bhi toh nahi, ke Sandhya tumne gaana kyun chod diya'

This is not just men and women, but then it's about a relationship of every kind, kya aapne kabhi poocha mujhhse - rather have the two of us ever spoken to each other about the other and not about my problems, listen to me and then I'll lend you my ear, it's not a post office and we are not in a queue.
I am guilty of this too, with some people, it's just about me, my problems.
Have I ever asked them - aaj aapne mera suna, aap bataye - how are you doing?
It can be your friend, your brother, mother, anybody.
Think about it. Such a small question, yet such an important one at that.
