Nanhi Pari

Ek sapna dekha tha, ankoha shayad
Ek raah pakdi thi, khatin shayad

Ek dil diya tha, pyaar hua shayad
Ek dil liya tha, naya ehsaas hain shayad

Ek mukaam pe paunche, ab aage kya?
Sapna poora kare, chale saath kya?

Hosla hain, tu agar saath hain
Nadaan hoon main, par tu paas hain.

Ab is mukaam pe hain ki dar lagta hain
Naya mod hain yeh, aage kya hota hain

Nai shuruaat hone ko hain
Nani si jaan ab bas aane ko hain

Tu sapna hain mera ankoha ka
Tujhe paana aasan nahi tha

Do dilo ka tu woh ehsaas hain
Aankon ka taara mera pyaar hain

Tu hosla hain meri tu himmat meri
Tu ansh hain meri tu jaan hain meri

Meri ankhon ka tara ab aa bhi ja
Haathon main meri, tu mere seene se lag ja.

Flying Human

I see a human flying out my window
Just like in the movies, look how she goes.

A thud I hear and howling around
I look out of the window and lose my sound

Lying there motionless was my kid
Beside her was my husband who didn't look good one bit

23 years of age and we wanted her to settle
But she wanted to live free like a bird and not fettered.

Education, work, tripping and friends
Nuptials, husband, responsibility and children

Indian customs and the society are above all
They are obsolete and archaic and result in a nasty fall

You've got to settle one day and become an adoring wife
I'd like to explore my likes only then will I adore my life.

Dear girl, you are getting engaged tomorrow
Mama, you are pushing me into a pit of despair and sorrow

We've had these conversions a million times before
But you fail understand my plight and leave me sore

There is your room we are done for the day
A child battling with depression, is this what you say?

"I shall live my life on my terms
No marriage shall stop me from exploring the world

I want to feel the breeze and experience the thrill of flying
Before I am liberated from a life chosen by my society.

One more step and woosh,  I go
If only they knew this moment, I'd never let go.
"
I see a flying human and it sends a chill down my spine
Thud, and I see a pool blood splattered around!

Oh dear, what have we done
Daddy's little girl ensured that she won.
