Flying Human

I see a human flying out my window
Just like in the movies, look how she goes.

A thud I hear and howling around
I look out of the window and lose my sound

Lying there motionless was my kid
Beside her was my husband who didn't look good one bit

23 years of age and we wanted her to settle
But she wanted to live free like a bird and not fettered.

Education, work, tripping and friends
Nuptials, husband, responsibility and children

Indian customs and the society are above all
They are obsolete and archaic and result in a nasty fall

You've got to settle one day and become an adoring wife
I'd like to explore my likes only then will I adore my life.

Dear girl, you are getting engaged tomorrow
Mama, you are pushing me into a pit of despair and sorrow

We've had these conversions a million times before
But you fail understand my plight and leave me sore

There is your room we are done for the day
A child battling with depression, is this what you say?

"I shall live my life on my terms
No marriage shall stop me from exploring the world

I want to feel the breeze and experience the thrill of flying
Before I am liberated from a life chosen by my society.

One more step and woosh,  I go
If only they knew this moment, I'd never let go.
"
I see a flying human and it sends a chill down my spine
Thud, and I see a pool blood splattered around!

Oh dear, what have we done
Daddy's little girl ensured that she won.

Waiting for a Bloom

Summer rains are a comforting change,
Quenching the thirst of a parched plane.
Every drop speaks a thousand words
Of pain and love, both a powerful force.

Romantic, it may sound to a few,
Someone hates the sound of lightning coming through
Fearing the rain, they pray to the gods
Offering everything that they've got.

The sun has burnt their backs during the day
And they want to moon to stay
Days are long and the night shorter
For they've got to begin early with labour

Sweat and toil they bring together
Ploughing the land to yield better
Have caressed it long enough
While humming along the summer song

Waiting for the hardships to bloom
Time has come and they shall harvest soon
Thunder strikes and skies pour
Miseries around and the heart is sore

Romantic, it may sound to a few,
Someone hates the sound of lightning coming through
Fearing the rain, they pray to the gods
Offering everything that they've got.

Months of hardship is washed away
And so is the livelihood which was here to stay
His wife and children wait for him
Hoping to comfort for the loss so grim

He walks away in dismay
Knowing not about his way
Tightens a noose around himself
Leaving his son, heir to debt and despair.
